I came across this quote this morning from Denise Duffield-Thomas:
As soon as I gave myself permission to contribute to the conversation of women and money, and not have to be a guru or expert, then my business became fun. If you really care about a topic, be a contributor. Who cares if you don’t know everything. You don’t have to be the best to make a difference to someone.
It instantly spoke to me! I am not an expert. I don’t have a bunch of degrees and I haven’t accomplished so many goals that I’ve become famous. But I DO know a lot about a few things, and I DO have something to offer and contribute, and I know that engaging in that contribution is my best path forward to helping people.
This is soooo what I am about.
Do not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
You may not be perfect but you’re Great.
The world would be very silent if no birds sang except those who sang best.
I am constantly reminding myself not to be afraid of failure. I know mentally, and am trying to know experientially, that the only failure is when I stop trying to reach my goals and accept defeat. I’m beginning to learn to accept that even if I think I’m failing in the present moment, I’m really not because I learn enough to course correct. If I make enough course corrections, I should eventually be able to get where I am going.
Having a lovely morning today as a result of this – and I hope you are too.
